A man was killed in the courthouse square, in front of a gallery full of people. One by one the witnesses testified, and one by one their accounts agreed - all but one. Somewhere in a roster of more than 24,000 witnesses, a single person lied under oath to shield the true killer. Every other statement was honest. Only the liar's was not.

You get thirteen findings recovered from the record. Each one tells you something the liar's surname is or is not. Apply them to the roster, rule out the honest, and one surname will remain.

How it works: Read a clue. Cross out every surname it eliminates. Move to the next. Work in any order you like - some clues clear whole sections at once, others narrow the final few. When one surname survives every clue, you have found the witness who lied.
